Poloxamer 188 is a synthetic block copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide. It is available in several types. 1. Poloxamer 188 has been used as a detergent, surfactant, and stabilizer. It facilitates the solubilization of hydrophobic molecules, promoting their rapid and complete dissolution in polar media.

2. Poloxamer 188 (aka methyl oxirane polymer) is used to solubilise the oily ingredients eucalyptol, thymol and menthol. Poloxamers are non-ionic surfactants which allow oil and water to mix. They are used as defoaming agents, wetting agents, emulsifiers, and they are safe to use in foods.

3. Emulsifier and stabilizer: Poloxamer188 (Pluronic F68) as an oil-in-water emulsifier is one of the few synthetic emulsifiers used in intravenous emulsions. Dosage 0.1% ~ 5%.

4. As a solvent-enhancing product: this product can increase the surface solubility of a variety of drugs due to the formation of surfactant micelles, such as salicylic acid, diazepam, indomethacin, midiazine, etc.

5. Make absorption accelerant: on the one hand because this article makes intestinal peristalsis slow, the drug in the gastrointestinal tract stay time growth, absorption increases, thus can improve the oral preparation of biological availability, on the other hand this article and skin intermiscibility is good, increase skin permeability, can promote the absorption of external medicine.
