Why do licorice exports need quota management?

Licorice is the most frequently used variety in the traditional Chinese medicine industry, and the extraction industry also uses licorice to extract extracts such as glycyrrhetinic acid for food, cosmetics, and other raw materials. Originally relying on wild resources, due to severe resource destruction, the ecological environment is also threatened.

In order to protect the environment and resources, the country implements export license and quota management for licorice exports, limiting a certain export quantity every year.
